Scholarships

$1000 – The Dr. Hank Lindstrom Scholarship

Awarded once, upon registration, towards the cost of a full-time student who has demonstrated a zeal for sharing the gospel and bearing much fruit. The Dr. Hank Lindstrom Scholarship Fund has been established to provide assistance to Florida Bible College students. We expect that students pay for their college education from one or more of three sources: their own or family savings, their own earnings (“pay-as-you-go”), and sometimes from outside assistance. When a student has shown that they are sure God wants them to prepare for a life of service at Florida Bible College, some assistance from the Dr. Hank Lindstrom Scholarship Fund may be applied to their account.

“I met Dr. Lindstrom back in 1964 at the Christian Youth Ranch Summer Conference at Boca Raton, Florida. He was known as “Hank”, and greatly influenced many young students to attend the Florida Bible College — I was one such young person. He could sing and play the guitar, and he taught the Bible with a strong emphasis on the clarity of the gospel. After completing his course at Florida Bible College, Hank and his new wife Jeanette came to Tampa and founded the Tampa Youth Ranch in the middle sixties. Hank sent several hundred students to Florida Bible College over the years. Dr. Hank Lindstrom founded the Calvary Community Church of Tampa in June of 1966. He also founded the Tampa Bay Bible College in the 1980s, taught extension classes for the Moody Bible Institute in the 1990s, and hosted the Bibleline radio and television ministry for many years. Dr. Hank Lindstrom went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 13, 2008. He was widely known for his love of the gospel and his compassion for souls.”

— Dr. Ralph Arnold

The Betty Arnold Scholarship Fund

My father led me to the Lord when I was six years old. He explained the gospel to me through John 3:16 (KJV) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” My parents took me to church every time the church doors were open. During my teenage years, I strayed from the Lord.

I was 17 years old when Ralph “Yankee” Arnold moved next door to our home in Athens, Georgia in 1959. All the qualifications I had for the man God desired for me went right out the door. We ran away and got married by the Justice of the Peace in Anderson, South Carolina on June 8th, 1960.

My dad was a soul winning Sunday school teacher, and began working and praying for his salvation. One night, three months later, Yankee trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior and he knew he had Eternal Life. This June 8th, we will have been married over 50 years.

My ministry has been with children, choir, counselor, and being a help meet for my husband. No greater work can be done by a pastor’s wife, than to be a soul winner and prayer warrior. God’s way of happiness in the home is for the wife to be submissive to her husband. After the Lord, the husband should come first and receive respect for his God given authority. It is easier to follow your husband when you know he is seeking wisdom to follow the Lord. He always consults my opinion in matters concerning the home, family, and ministry.

I am also a bond slave to Christ with promises and privileges as a wife. A life of submission is to trust, delight, and then commit my way unto the Lord. Psalms 37:4-5 (KJV) “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

This was very difficult in the beginning of our marriage. Growing in the Lord requires, both husband and wife, many years of bonding together spiritually, to develop a closer walk with the Lord. If serving the Lord is serving others, then this is something both can do together. As a pastor’s wife, I have learned to develop a greater love and compassion for those who are hurting and need comfort.

I have chosen to live my life by a schedule of priorities. My first ministry is my husband, children, grandchildren, and now a great grandson, all who are in constant in need of daily prayer. To build a proper relationship with the Lord, you must forgive others and yourself for conflicts. It causes a tremendous emotional drain upon you. Please the Lord and your husband and don’t worry about other people say. Do right.

1 Samuel 12:24 (KJV)
“Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.”

Proverbs 31:30 (KJV)
“Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.”

— Betty Arnold, Pastor Arnold’s wife
